The youth educational camp “Nastavnik” opens in Krasnodar Territory

The tent camp “Nastavnik” (“Mentor”) for future teachers opened at the All-Russian Children’s Center “Smena” on June 26, 2023, at the Center for Innovative Pedagogical Technologies in the village of Tekos in Krasnodar Territory. The first camp shift brought together 50 participants of the “#PEDCOMPASS” convention of teacher training college students under the age of 17 from seven regions of Russia.

At the opening ceremony held on June 27, first residents of the camp were greeted by the Head of “Smena” Ivan Zhuravlev and Vice-Rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia Olga Sukhanova.

For two weeks the teens will have meetings and workshops in pedagogy and psychology with the country’s best teachers. Students of teacher training universities became the camp counselors; the tutors are experienced educators who will share their professional secrets with the participants. Young people will also learn about the basics of tourism and local history, attend guided tours and enjoy fascinating professional communication.

As the initial camp event, students and their tutors joined the online seminar “Education Vector: Challenges, Trends, Outlook” organized by the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia, where the participants got acquainted with the features of teaching financial literacy, the resources of the Library of Digital Educational Content, and met with the People’s Teacher of the Russian Federation Lev Pigalitsyn. Modern Russian education and the work of a teacher were discussed at the meeting with Olga Sukhanova, Vice-Rector of the Academy.

“#PEDCOMPASS”, the convention of students of teacher training colleges, is held by the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia together with the Children’s Center “Smena” as part of the Year of Teachers and Mentors proclaimed in Russia in 2023 by President Vladimir Putin. From June 26 to August 29, “Nastavnik” will take more than 200 motivated and pedagogically oriented young learners.
