In the Year of Teachers and Mentors proclaimed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, 1,250 Russia’s best teachers received 200 000 rubles as awards for their professional achievements.
Money prizes are awarded annually in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On Awards to the Best Teachers for Achievements in Pedagogical Activity” signed in 2018. In the Year of Teachers and Mentors, the total number of prizes was increased from 1,000 to 1,250.
The contest is based on the principles of publicity, openness, transparency of evaluation procedures and ensuring equal opportunities for teachers to participate.
In each constituent entity of the Russian Federation, specially formed commissions conducted a regional selection of applicants for the award among school teachers working at all levels, i.e., primary, basic and secondary education.
The contest was organized by the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia.
