The closing ceremony of the All-Russian Professional Olympiad for Teachers “Keepers of the Russian Language” took place in Tula on 8 December. The regional government participated in organizing the event.
“In different years Ivan Turgenev, Vasily Zhukovsky, Ivan Bunin and, of course, Leo Tolstoy, whose 195th anniversary we celebrated this year, lived and worked on the Tula land. These great writers made an invaluable contribution to the development of the Russian language and literature. Our task is to preserve the Russian language as part of the national culture. You pass on its beauty and richness to our children at lessons, teach them to read and write, instill love for the native language. Thank you for your great and very necessary labor, dedication, patience and devotion!” wrote Alexey Dyumin, Governor of Tula Region, in his welcoming message.
The participants of the ceremony were also greeted by Bogdan Legostaev, Vice-Rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia: “It is gratifying that all of you are people who care about their work and make a huge contribution to the purity and preservation of the Russian language. You make sure that our students preserve and multiply its traditions and culture.”
The winner of the Olympiad was Russian language teacher Tatiana Politova from the Komi Republic. Teachers from Sakhalin, Voronezh, Novgorod and Kostroma Regions were announced the prize winners.
“My friends, without you, without your support nothing would have been possible, because being among the best is a reward. I really want to thank the initiators of the competition, because it is not easy to come up with ideas that will inspire not only the finalists, but the whole of Russia. I would like to thank the organizers, the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia, since their platform hosts amazing events, which I am very pleased to tell my colleagues about,” said the winner.
The final stage of the professional Olympiad “Keepers of the Russian Language” united 85 teachers from all over Russia. The finalists made and presented their language projects, attended lectures and workshops from leading experts.
The All-Russian Professional Olympiad for Teachers is held on the initiative of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and organized by the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia for the third time. In the Year of Teachers and Mentors, the Olympiad includes four directions for teachers of different subjects: “Keepers of the Russian Language”, “Big Country Team” (meta-subject Olympiad), “DNA of Science” and “PRO-IT”. Michael Shelkov’s “Empathy” Charitable Foundation supported the Olympiad for Russian language teachers.
