Minister Sergey Kravtsov Summed Up the Results of the School Year

Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov answered questions from representatives of the pedagogical and parental community as well as the media at the press conference “Sovereign system of education: results of the school year” held in the International multimedia press center “Russia Today” on May 25, 2023.

“This school year has been special for all of us. We carry on enhancing the unified educational space and building the sovereign system of education in Russia. The Strategy for Comprehensive Security of Children in the Russian Federation until 2030 signed by the President solidifies the work of the Ministry of Education, which is strengthening and well-being of families with children, developing modern and safe infrastructure for schoolchildren, and providing a decent standard of living for children,” said Sergey Kravtsov.

Minister summed up the results of the school year and outlined the objectives of his office in the Year of Teachers and Mentors. The Ministry is working on the implementation of the updated Federal State Educational Standards and introduction of federal unified educational programs. A single line of school textbooks is currently being developed to ensure the unified educational space across the country. The Ministry also focuses on increasing the number of psychological and teacher training vocational classes; at the same time, up-to-date educational environment is being created at teacher training institutions which are equipped with the most advanced training tools. One of the goals of Sergey Kravtsov’s team is reduction of bureaucratic burden on teachers. The Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia keeps providing continuous and targeted methodological support for teachers.

During the press conference, Sergei Kravtsov answered questions from the pedagogical and parental community concerning measures to support teachers’ motivation and self-development; school overhaul and equipment; recognition of teachers’ work during the Year of Teachers and Mentors; digitalization of education and creation of digital educational content.

Tatiana Vasilieva and Anastasia Zyryanova, Deputy Ministers of Education of Russia, also took part in the press conference as well as education officials, teacher teams, parents and students from the Republic of Mordovia, Belgorod Region and the Lugansk People’s Republic.

As part of the press conference, Ivan Kolechkin, teacher, geographer, teaching aids author and TV presenter, expert of the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia, demonstrated the possibilities of the Library of digital educational content at the school lesson.

The expert explained the characteristics of the lessons placed in the Library. All of them have a block-modular structure and include different stages, from actualization of the material to homework; each lesson contains methodological recommendations for the student and the teacher. The lesson can be used as a reference scheme, leaving room for teacher’s creativity.

The Library of digital educational content is a large-scale knowledge base created for all subjects and topics of the school curriculum in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standards, approximate basic educational programs and universal thematic classifier. The Library’s features offer the most modern ways of visualizing the material. From January 1, 2023, the Library is available for use in all regions of the country.
