Educational marathon for teachers, students and administrators in education was given start on May 16, 2023, within the project “Flagships in Education” of the presidential platform “Russia – the country of opportunities”. Held in the Year of the Teacher and Mentor, the Marathon is aimed at the development of the participants’ soft skills and professional knowledge as well as dissemination of best practices in the state policy implementation, leadership, and mentoring.
For the first time in the history of Russian education, training sites across the country will unite at the “Flagships in Education” marathon to develop the professional and managerial potential of leaders in the field of education.
Key experts in education took part in the panel discussion at the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia dedicated to the launch of the marathon.
“In the Year of the Teacher and Mentor proclaimed by the President of Russia, for the first time in history, we give a chance to join the educational marathon, which is a resource for building up universal competencies and professional knowledge that will be useful both in career and life. Everyone participating in the marathon will find something appealing for them – best practices in state educational policy, leadership, mentoring, applied knowledge and skills aimed at the participants’ professional growth,” said Alexey Agafonov, First Deputy General Director of ANO “Russia – the country of opportunities”.
“The marathon allows to create individual educational routes and develop competencies which will be further assessed by comprehensive diagnostics. It comprises a variety of educational events and mini courses to cover certain professional deficiencies and gives an opportunity to move forward to new educational and managerial horizons,” said Pavel Kuzmin, Rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia.
Pavel Zenkovich, Vice-President for External Communications of “Prosveshcheniye Publishers”, also spoke in the panel discussion.
“The project like ‘Flagships in Education’ is more than demanded today, as in modern conditions, when transformations are taking place and new goals are being set, skilled administrators are to be trained as well as teachers. Schools are becoming more than educational institutions; they are now growth points for their regions and municipalities. Due to the marathon all the participants will get new experience necessary for managing the educational system and developing Russian school for the future of our kids,” he said.
“We have long been observing the ‘Flagships in Education’ project, and we see how it is evolving. The Year of the Teacher and Mentor is marked by a big number of events, and the marathon will unite a large part of them. Our motto is ‘Teach those who teach’ and I am sure that together we can give the marathon a kind of synergy,” said Anton Serikov, Deputy General Director of All-Russian public-government enlightenment organization “Russian “Znanie” society”.
Participants of the educational marathon will undergo self-diagnostics, determine the vectors of their professional and personal growth and take part in educational activities from the partners of the project “Flagships in Education”. Among them are the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia, Russian “Znanie” society, Agency for Strategic Initiatives, VK, “Prosveshcheniye Publishers” and others.
The educational part of the marathon will be available until August 15, 2023. From August 16, comprehensive diagnostics will start, which will allow participants to pass to the on-site stages of the competition. The regional semifinals will be held in October and the finals in November 2023.
The project “Flagships in Education” is a unique resource for career growth, personal and professional development of teachers, students and administrators in education, bringing together over 120 000 educators from all around Russia.
