The best teachers in Russia are annually awarded with money prizes of 200 000 rubles in accordance with the Decree of the President of Russia of November 28, 2018 “On awards for the country’s best teachers for achievements in pedagogical activity”.
In the Year of Teachers and Mentors, the number of awards grew from 1,000 to 1,250 according to the Presidential Decree of February 06, 2023.
Prizes are awarded on the Teacher’s Day upon the results of the competition for school and college teachers. This contest is aimed at motivating teachers to improve their educational activity and develop their creative and professional potential.
The competition for the best teachers is organized by the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia on the principles of publicity, openness, transparency of evaluation procedures and ensuring equal opportunities for teachers to participate. The nomination of teachers for the award is made with their written consent by the collegial governing body of the educational organization.
